There is also plenty to see in the area around Büsum. Explore the beautiful nature of the north by boat or car.

Boat trips from Büsum

With the Adler & Eils shipping company, you can book great excursions by ship from Büsum.

Within around 2.5 hours, for example, you can take the ferry to Heligoland, Germany's only high seas island. The 61 m high impressive cliffs and Lange Anna are probably the island's most famous features.

The shipping company also offers trips to the Seehundsbank. New from 2022 are the trips to the islands of Amrum, Hallig Hooge, Sylt and Föhr. You can reach the islands comfortably in two hours with the catamaran MS "Adler-Jet".

Fishing trip with the Hauke

A vacation at the North Sea also includes getting to know the sea creatures. During the 1.5-hour fishing trip on the historic cutter MS Hauke, you have the opportunity to get to know crabs, starfish, shrimps and many other animals. A highlight for the whole family and lots of fun for young and old.

Friedrichskoog seal sanctuary

Experience seals and gray seals up close at the Friedrichskoog seal sanctuary. Twice a day you can watch the young and permanently kept animals being fed. The "Seal Information Center" and the "Seals of the World" adventure exhibition offer many opportunities to find out more about the animals.

The Eider barrage & lock

An excursion by bike under the dyke to the Eider barrage.

The imposing Eider barrage, also known as the Eider dam, is one of the largest coastal protection projects in Europe and has been a major attraction for over 40 years. It ensures shipping traffic between the Eider and the North Sea, drains the marshes and, above all, protects against storm surges.

Of course, the Eider barrage is also very easy to reach by car.

Excursion to the Kiel Canal

A cycle tour along the Kiel Canal followed by refreshments at Café Kanal 33.

Enjoy the view of the passing ships from there. It is not unusual to see some large freighters and container ships.

Stone Age Park Dithmarschen, Albersdorf

The Dithmarschen Albersdorf Stone Age Park is an open-air archaeological museum with history. Experience the way of life of hunter-gatherers in their village. Visit a cultural landscape from the time of the first farmers and cattle breeders in northern Germany 5,000 years ago. A variety of archaeological attractions, adventures on the nature playground or long walks in the Stone Age forest await you and your family.
